Creating a Hyperlink in your message

You can easily add a hyperlink to your message.

All that you need to do is type the URL (http://asp.flaaten.dk/pforum/), and it will automatically be converted to a URL (http://asp.flaaten.dk/pforum/)!

The trick here is to make sure you prefix your URL with the http://, https:// or file://

You can also add a mailto link to your message by typing in your email address.

This Example:
[email protected]
Outputs this:
[email protected].

Another way to add hyperlinks is to use the [url]linkto[/url] tags

This Example:
[url]http://asp.flaaten.dk/pforum/[/url] takes you home!
Outputs This:
http://asp.flaaten.dk/pforum/ takes you home!

If you use this tag: [url="linkto"]description[/url] you can add a description to the link.

This Example:
Take me to [url="http://asp.flaaten.dk/pforum/"]Proxomitron Forum 2001[/url]
Outputs This:
Take me to Proxomitron Forum 2001
This Example:
If you have a question [url="[email protected]"]Mail Me[/url]
Outputs This:
If you have a question Mail Me

You can make clickable images by combining the [url="linkto"]desc[/url] and [img]image_url[/img] tags
This Example:
[url="http://asp.flaaten.dk/pforum/"][img]http://asp.flaaten.dk/pforum/ProxyLogo.gif [/img][/url]
Outputs This:

You may delete all cookies set by these forums in selecting the "logout" button at the top of any page.

Active Topics are tracked by cookies. When you click on the "active topics" a page is generated listing all topics that have been posted since your last visit to these forums (or approximately 20 minutes).

Editing Your Posts

You may edit or delete your own posts at any time. Just go to the topic where the post to be edited or deleted is located and you will see a edit or delete icon () on the line that begins "posted on..." Click on this icon to edit or delete the post. No one else can edit your post, except for the forum Moderator or the bulletin board administrator. A note is generated at the bottom of each edited post displaying when and by whom the post was edited.

Attaching Files

For security reasons, you may not attach files to any posts. However, you may cut and paste text into your post.

Searching For Specific Posts

You may search for specific posts based on a word or words found in the posts, user name, date, and particular forum(s). Simply click on the "search" link at the top of most pages.

Signatures

You may attach signatures to the end of your posts when you post either a New Topic or Reply. Your signature is editable by clicking on "profile" at the top of any forum page and entering your UserName and Password.

NOTE: HTML can't be used in Signatures.

Censoring Posts

The Forum does censor certain words that may be posted; however, this censoring is not an exact science, and is being done based on the words that are being screened, so certain words may be censored out of context. Words that are censored are replaced with asterisks.

Lost User Name and/or Password

Retrieving your UserName and Password is simple, assuming that email features are turned on for this bulletin board. All of the pages that require you to identify yourself with your UserName and Password carry a "lost Password" link that you can use to have your UserName and Password mailed instantly to your email address of record.

Email Notification

When you create a new topic, you have the option of receiving an email notification every time someone posts a reply to your topic. If you wish to use this feature, simply check the email notification box on the "New Topic" page when you create your new topic.

Why do someone get banned?

Apart from the obvious reasons for banning people from a forum; like when they degrade other members or use bad language, people also get banned for sending hidden annoying messages to webmaster within their HTTP_REFERER or other logged headers. Members get a warning before they get banned, and guests do not get warnings. Other ways to achieve this status is to use reloaders and for example reload the forum every 5 minutes or something like that. The forum has a well functioning email service and one can use this if there is interest in getting reminded if there is a new answer in a thread or topic. And then there are those who sign up with fake email adresses who give me 5 minutes of unnessasary work.

Copying filters

You are advised to turn on cookies and javascript on this site. Also you should not use Proxomitron when reading filters posted here. This is because the site uses javascript and cookies for it's normal function. And the reason for not using Proxomitron here, is that sometimes Proxomitron changes the apperance of filters here so that you are reading something that is really not here. And copying such a reendered filter will at the least give you a filter that does not work.

Lost membership

The membership is deleted if a member has not visited the forum the last 2 months and logged in. A moderator loose the moderation prevlidges if he/she does not visit the forum and log in regularly. For those loosing membership, it is no problem. Just register again.

Chat - Why do I not show active

On the front page it shows how many, and who, is in the chatroom. It will only show for about 9 minutes, and then it will time-out and therefore not show. This means that this information on the front page might not be correct. A person who has been chatting for more than 9 minutes will not show on the front page since the session has timed out. This is because he is not refreshing his page, but is using an applet connected to IRC. Also if someone connects to the chatroom with mIRC, Pirch or some other client, it will not show on the front page.

What are the commands in the chat?

These are some basic commands in the chat:

  • /NICK MyNick = Will change your nick to MyNick
  • /MSG W SETPASS #Foreldre Password = If a operator gave you status as a member, you set you password like this (or change it).
  • /MSG W AUTH #Foreldre Password = Is how you give yourself a status in the room as a member.
  • W COMMANDS = Will give you commands available to you.
  • W USERINFO Nick = Will give you userinfo on Nick.
  • W USERLIST = Will give you a list of users who have been granted permanent membership on IRC #Foreldre
  • W HELP = Will give you just that. Use w help A_command to get help on a command.
  • /ME is jumping up and down =Will give the action: MyNick is jumping up and down.
  • /MSG OtherNick Hi there. = Will open a private chat with OtherNick, or give you a message if he/she is away.
  • /AWAY I am back at 12pm = Will tell others that you will be back at 12PM. (See above). When you come back you youst type /AWAY
  • /LIST = Will give you a list of all chatrooms on the channel.
  • /JOIN #RoomName = Will leave this room and join #RoomName.
  • /WHOIS nickname = Shows information about someone. Helps you locate someone.
  • /WHOWAS nickname = Shows information about a nickname that is no longer connected. This can help you find when a user was last online.

Linking (New Option)

You can now link to other topics like this [URL]topic.asp?topic_ID=6[/URL] where you change the number 6 to whatever topic you wish to link to. I have also made a new feature so that one can link directly to a reply by the use of anchor. To link directly to a reply you can use this template: [URL]topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=421#1326[/URL] where the number 421 refers to the topic and the number after the # refers to the PostID number found in the left column of the reply. If the reply is located in a topic with multiple pages you must also include the &whichpage;=xx where xx refers to the page number (2,3,4...)

What is COPPA

The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act and Rule apply to individually identifiable information about a child that is collected online, such as full name, home address, email address, telephone number or any other information that would allow someone to identify or contact the child. The Act and Rule also cover other types of information -- for example, hobbies, interests and information collected through cookies or other types of tracking mechanisms -- when they are tied to individually identifiable information. More information can be found here.
